Platform 6 is structured around studio-based learning, as experienced through the sequence of core and option studios at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. This environment supports a unique model of scholarship that encourages hands-on learning, strategic thinking, and incisive exchanges with faculty. The studio ritual —explored through exhibition and publication— signifies a deep faith in interpersonal engagement and constantly revised connections between research, knowledge, and disciplinary affiliation. The assessment given at the desk represents the most fundamental criticisms of the project or proposal.

The Platform 6 publication seeks to capture the vitality of this exchange, as sequences of student response: drawing, model, video, rendering, sketch, map, animation, photograph, installation—follow the initial brief.
This exhibition and publication were designed, edited and curated with the intention of reflecting the life of the School, where key influences are threaded into the experience—whether conflicting or resonating throughout the year. (Actar, 2013)
