Live Matter, publication

Accompanying the exhibition at the Radcliffe Institute, four essays explicate how plants have been quantified and measured, in order to foreground the poplar as a model organism—a concept first proposed by the German poet and botanist Goethe. Plant morphology provides an intellectual setting within which to propose a future of live matter, finally speculating that the plant itself is a provocative design medium.
